About the Awards

The Be More Awards recognize companies and individuals that are creating positive ripples in the world by leveraging the power of social media in unique and empowering ways.

With these awards, we turn ripples into waves by spotlighting those who are using social media to promote positive messaging, drive forward pressing social issues, give a voice to those in need, and nurture communities of support.

The Be More Awards are setting new standards of excellence for online content, marketing and, brand engagement and in doing so, we are creating a network of changemaking brands that together have the power to transform social media into a tool for empowerment, inspiration, and support.

Who Should Apply

The Be More Awards recognize companies who think outside of the box for their social media strategy and aim to bring about good in the world with each post, comment, share, and campaign.

The Be More awards are open to all brands and individuals: organizations, corporations, agencies, nonprofits, networks, influencers, leaders, changemakers, visionaries, and anyone else that would like to highlight their social media efforts.

You should apply if you have launched a campaign in the last 24 months or implemented a social media strategy that:

  • Has challenged industry norms

  • Driven a social impact cause forward

  • Empowered others

  • Changed the way we think about an issue

  • Reinforced inclusivity

  • Is a unique approach to engagement for social activism or brand activism

  • Empowered or educated teens

  • Brought awareness to an important cause

  • Fundraised for a specific cause

  • Created or nurtured a community

  • Partnered with a charity

  • Committed to honesty and transparency

Award Categories

Organizations

Best Social Pivot

This award honors a social media campaign or overall social presence for exceptional response to local, national, and global challenges such as COVID-19, natural disasters, etc. Functional business pivots, community support initiatives, cross-platform communications are all eligible. Creative integrity, strategic integration, social impact, brand alignment, asset creation, shareability authenticity, sincerity, and effectiveness will all be considered.

Best Charity Partnership

This award goes to the best corporate x charity partnership that is able to align their two brands in an effort to spread positivity, empower others to get involved, bring awareness to and/or support a pressing social issue. We are looking for partnerships that make sense and lift each other up. In working together, this dynamic duo has found a unique and creative way to align their mission and values for the greater good and effectively utilize their reach and unique strengths to increase support a cause. Criteria such as the relationship compatibility, campaign effectiveness, authenticity, creative execution, communication strategy, and impact results are all considerations in selecting the winner.

The Beacon Award

This award honors a company that leverages its brand and voice to bring awareness to a pressing social issue. Creative integrity, strategic integration, social impact, strategic partnerships, brand alignment, asset creation, shareability, authenticity, sincerity, and effectiveness will all be considerations in selecting the winner.

Best Social Impact Campaign

This award honors a company that brings its corporate values to life by engaging in social impact causes. Applicants should be committed to having a positive impact on the world by directly supporting social causes and bringing awareness to pressing social issues should apply. Fundraising, awareness, resource allocation, volunteerism, storytelling, and community engagement are all eligible interpretations of "campaign." The creativity that your campaign or initiative utilizes in leveraging social media and other social platforms to amplify their social impact efforts will be a primary consideration.

Best Impact Video

This award honors exceptional use of videography and digital footage to highlight and educate audiences on a specific social issue. Companies that use creative and innovative musicality, editing techniques, and impactful messaging to help spread a positive social message will be highlighted.

Best In Storytelling

Best in Storytelling highlights companies that use the power of narrative to their advantage. These brands weave stories within their social media presence to inform and uplift audiences about relevant social issues.

The Problem Solver

This award is here to recognize and celebrate organizations who have used their social media presence to solve a problem in a creative way. That could mean correcting a social injustice, raising money for an important cause, bridging a social divide, reaching underserved communities, or finding clever ways to solve a problem of someone in their audience/community.

Most Creative Use of Hashtags

This award honors the brand that is the most inventive with their social media hashtags. Whether it be coming up with a new hashtag for a campaign or a specific holiday season, we want to see what original ideas you have for empowering your audiences on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and TikTok. Originality, relevance, hashtag variety, and virality will be considered, as well as how the hashtag promotes empowerment, positivity, self-esteem, mental health and/or digital wellness.

Most Dedicated to Representation

This award is for brands who are committed to prioritizing representation into their social media strategy. They see a need for providing a voice to the minorities and the marginalized, and they don’t fail to continuously include people of color and people of diverse backgrounds. Representation matters when it comes to gender, race, and body inclusivity, so that young people can see themselves reflected in the media they're interacting with. Activism, representation frequency, brand values, audience base, and creative content will be taken into consideration.

Best In Nonprofits

This award is an opportunity to honor and celebrate the nonprofit organizations that make a massive positive impact in their community. We would love to see how your nonprofit has used your social media platforms to amplify your message and make a difference. We are firm believers that community organizations are one of the best vehicles to help change the landscape of social media to be a more positive place. We love hearing from nonprofits who have similar areas of impact to ours, including mental health, girl's empowerment, body positivity, eating disorder awareness, and digital wellness. But all nonprofit organizations are welcome to apply. Together we can achieve so much more!

Nonprofit Teamwork Award

This award celebrates nonprofits that are working together to achieve a common goal. If you are in the nonprofit space you know that competition can sometimes be fierce, but you also know that we often accomplish to much more when we work together. Using social media is a great way to create co-branded campaigns that reach even more people and help multiple organizations reach their goals. Collaboration and unity is the name of the game, and that's what we love to see! Campaigns will be evaluated for how their collective efforts amplify the impact of their respective missions.

Nonprofit Community Engagement Award

This award honors nonprofits who maximize their organization's impact through relationships cultivated with the communities they serve. These organizations have made an extraordinary effort to work with community partners and learn from the people most impacted. When looking at ways to make social media a more positive and empowering place, organizations have a special obligation and opportunity to engage their audience with valuable and impactful content. We love to see organizations who come up with creative ways to get their communities involved in their conversations and mission. Nonprofits who serve a variety of social, political, economic, and environmental causes are welcome to apply.

Nonprofit Social Media - Most Impactful Use of Social Platforms

These awards honor nonprofits that use specific social media platforms to effectively communicate their organization's mission and inspire engagement, as well as social change. These organizations are excellent at using a specific platform to convey their message and amplify action on an individual and collective level. Whether it's a moving and emotional video campaign on Facebook or a commitment to empowered activism on Twitter, we want to hear about your create use of these social platforms. Those who serve a variety of social, political, economic, and environmental causes are welcome to apply.

Brand Activist of the Year

This award honors a company, organization or institution that use social media to address and dismantle systemic structural and interpersonal inequities. From climate change to racism to LGBTQ+ issues and more, this activist leverages their brand with the connective powers of the web to bring about social justice. Whether they are organizing marches, raising money, or volunteering, this business leader is making the world a better place.

Most Transparent & Authentic

Social media is a place that is often photoshopped, filtered, and edited to perfection. But constant exposure to perceived "perfection" is not real and can be damaging to the mental health and self-esteem of young people. We are looking for a brand that values authenticity above all else. Are you transparent about your internal policies and values? Do you strive to create real and impactful content for your audience? Are you committed to sharing vulnerable and honest stories and images? If your brand is determined to deliver to your audience in the most purpose-driven, honest manner, we would love to hear from you.

Individuals

Most Empowering Influencer

This award honors the influencer who uses their social media platform to empower their followers. Influencers with a focus on body-positivity/body-neutrality, healthy lifestyles, motherhood, self-love, social justice, equality, inspiring and relatable narratives, address privilege, advocacy, or addressing social stigmas are eligible. Community engagement, strategic partnerships, empowering messaging, dedication to giving voice to others, and authenticity in building others up are primary factors for consideration.

Teen Activist of the Year

This award honors a teen who has demonstrated leadership with their efforts to bring about social change. Their passion for empowering others, spreading awareness can be limited to a specific issue (ie. sustainability, poverty, body-positivity, bullying, mental health, political injustice etc.) or broadly encompass positive human characteristics (ie. self-love, gratitude, growth, generosity, etc.) Creative use of social media, community engagement, authenticity, and exceptional display of leadership will all be primary factors for consideration. Nominees must be 13-18 years old.

Social Media Maven of the Year

Honors a maven who has stood out, taken risks, and pushed themselves or their team to new heights. Making bold decisions at every level, these agents of change are champions of excellence and are instrumental in driving their businesses forward.

Be More Youth of the Year

This award goes to the young person that embodies the values of Be More. They empower individuals, set standards of positivity for their online content, engage their community, inspire creativity in their peers, utilize social media in a healthy manner, and encourage their audience to "be more". Must be between the ages of 13-19 to qualify.

Tidal Wave Award - Community Impact Pages

Sometimes all it takes is a drop in the ocean to cause a massive tidal wave. And sometimes one person's voice can turn into a social movement more powerful than they could have ever imagined. This award is for community impact pages that started as a grassroots effort and have grown into a wide-reaching and empowering space for social change. We're looking for activism, community engagement, viral conversations, and organic growth.

Biggest Transformation - (But not how you'd think!)

This isn't the kind of transformation you're used to. This award is for the influencer who realized that we are so much more than our appearance, and made the brave decision to transition their account to a place of authenticity, vulnerability, and self-love. Whether she's a former model turned body-positive blogger, or makeup-guru turned filter-free advocate, all "transformations" are welcome here. We want to see someone who realized that perfectly poised, edited, filtered shots are not reality and not healthy to be posting and consuming 24/7, so they wanted to be the change they wished to see in their feeds.

Most Empowering Celebrity

This award honors the celebrity who uses their social media platform to empower their fans. Celebs with a focus on body-positivity/body-neutrality, healthy lifestyles, motherhood, self-love, social justice, equality, inspiring and relatable narratives, equality, advocacy, or addressing social stigmas are eligible. Community engagement, strategic partnerships, empowering messaging, dedication to giving voice to others, and authenticity are primary factors for consideration.

Best Celebrity Voice for Youth

There is no denying that social media has the potential to be either a positive or negative space. We believe celebrities who use social media have a special obligation, particularly to their young followers, to lead by example and spark positive social change. This award honors the celebrity who uses their social media platform to empower their young fans. Whether they are a young person themselves doesn't matter, they just have to be committed to being a positive role model for the youth who look up to them. How are they using social media to inspire and empower the next generation?

Teacher/Educator Of The Year

This award honors an exceptional Teacher/Educator who demonstrates expertise, creativity, and innovation in their work. They have demonstrated fearless advocacy for students, teachers, and education as a whole. This educator goes above and beyond think outside of the box to keep their students inspired and isn't afraid to get creative in integrating technology and social media responsibly as a way of elevating the learning experience, engaging students on their level and/or empowering students and teachers.
